Who doesn’t love a good trick or treat? I know that I do and it looks like many of our area attractions and businesses do too! Everything from chunking pumpkins to trekking dark trails to dressing as zombies is going on right here. To help make sure you don’t miss out on any of the scary details – I’ve compiled a list of more than a dozen of the hottest (and spookiest!) Halloween events going on in our communities! So check it out… I promise… having all this fun will not give you nightmares.

Pumpkin Chunking Challenge presented by Child & Family Services (Oct. 10) Don’t miss out on this fundraising event located at Nimby Pond in Buchanan. Pumpkin decorating contest, maze, live music, pumpkin chunking, bean bag toss competition and more are all on tap for a great cause. Event is from 4-7 p.m. Admission is $5/adult, children 12 & under are free. Visit cfssswmi.org for details.

Haunted St. Joseph Walking Tours presented by Heritage Museum & Cultural Center (Oct. 17) Saturday, October 17 at 3:00pm the Heritage Museum & Cultural Center and the History Center at Courthouse Square team up for “Haunted Saint Joseph” walking tours! The tours will meet at the park located next to the Maud Preston Palenske Memorial Library (corner of State and Market Streets), and will begin with a lantern lit walking tour of the State Street Historic District. The tours are weather permitting. Donations of $5 are asked to support both organizations’ programs and tours.  The Halloween Happening at Fernwood Botanical GardenGarden (Oct. 24)
Calling all ghosts, ghouls, and witches! Dress in your best costume and find your way to Fernwood to celebrate Halloween with activities and treats for the entire family. Enjoy trick-or-treating in the gardens, pumpkin decorating, spooky creatures and stories, and more! Event is from 6-8 p.m. Details can be found at fernwoodbotanical.org.

Happy Halloweekend at the Inn at Harbor Shores (Oct. 28-31)
The Inn at Harbor Shores is looking forward to the Halloween season and is featuring several events including an artist pumpkin carving contest, spooky storytelling and a costume ball! Guests will enjoy a fall menu and cocktails and more! Check out the Inn's Facebook Page for details.

Spooktakular Family Fun Night at the Silver Beach Carousel (Oct. 29) Magician John Dudley will showcase tricks… and costumed guests will receive a treat - one free ride on the Carousel! Event is from 4-8:30 p.m. – follow the Carousel on Facebook for details.

Halloween at Sarett Nature Center (Oct. 30) Start your journey along the trails anytime between 6:30 and 8:00 pm. Volunteers and staff will be on hand to help you discover wild creatures and fun activities along the lighted trail. Snacks and crafts will be inside. For the older, more adventurous kids try the dark trail. $3/person and bring a flashlight. Call to register. 927-4832. All children must be accompanied by an adult

It’s No Trick, Kids Eat Free - Halloween at Tosi’s Restaurant (Oct. 30)
Grab your costumes and the family and head to Tosi’s for dinner. Starting at 5:30 p.m. kids in costume eat free (with the purchase of an adult meal). They will enjoy a special menu that night that includes Witch’s Fingers, Mummy Dogs and more!

Zombie Prom at 221 Main Restaurant & Cocktail House (Oct. 30)
Dance the night away at the Zombie Prom! Event starts at 10 p.m. A Zombie King and Queen will be crowned at midnight - $500 in cash and prizes for the winners. Drink and shot specials all night! Check out the 221 Facebook Page for more information.

St. Joseph Downtown Trick-or-Treat (Oct. 31)
Grab the family and head downtown for St. Joseph Today’s Annual Downtown Trick-or-Treat event. Sponsored by Holt Bosse, this beloved event features downtown businesses handing out candy from the hours of 4:30 - 6 p.m. When finished – keep on going with citywide trick-or-treating until 7:30pm. Famous Halloween Party at Czar’s 505 (Oct. 31)
Party at Czar’s 505 with Sucker Punch and Gun Shy. Doors open at 10 p.m.

Halloween Bash with Chuck Jagers and Deep Fried Pickle Project at the Livery Oct. 31 Dress up and head over to Livery on Halloween. Enjoy live music by two great bands. Doors open at 9 p.m.

Halloween Carnival presented by Citadel Dance & Music Center (Oct. 31)
Immediately following the Noon Dance Showing on October 31st, the Dance campus will be open for a Carnival! Apple bobbing, cakewalk, sack races, petting zoo, costume contest, face painting, pumpkin carving/painting, trick-or-treating, and much more! Join us from noon to 5 p.m. for great Halloween fun!

Halloween Party at Santaniello's Santaniello's (Oct. 31)
Don't miss the biggest, baddest Halloween Party in Southwest Michigan. FIRST PRIZE $1,000! Guests must register by 10 p.m. to be included in the contest. Dance the night away with DJs Hunter & Jellie Bean from Mid-West Family Broadcasting. Shot Specials! Safe rides home will be made available. 

HalloWine Party at Round Barn Winery (Oct. 31) This annual party offers guests the chance to taste wines, craft beer and spirits too – the party is from 1-7p.m. Costumed guests will be treated to additional tasting tokens (wine tasting purchase required). Plus count on the Round Barn team to be dressed for the occasion and working their magic to capture your vote for ‘best costume’. Beware…they may be lurking in the vineyard! Music by Rebecca Anne Band will have the party rocking.

Howl-o-ween Costume Contest at FuzzyButz (Oct. 31)
Grab your furry friend and check out the FuzzyButz Howl-o-ween Costume contest is from 1 to 3 p.m.  Contestants will compete for 3 prizes in two different categories – Adult and Children’s.
