Janet and Phil Dykstra, Kilwin's of St. Joseph Owners, celebrating 18 years
Kilwin’s, owned by Phil and Janet Dykstra, has been a staple on State Street in downtown St. Joseph for 18 years. Originally, they were on the 300 block, but needed more space and jumped when the building became available. They been at their current 217 State Street location for 10 years; Phil showed us pictures of the gutted first floor. They moved the door so the front window could be used for famous fudge production, and added the ice cream counters and more.
Just a few pictures of the treats you can find at Kilwin's!
Janet and Phil are generous and give back to the community frequently, offering free ice cream to the municipal bands and donating to many different non profits. They have staff members who have been with them from the beginning; we had cake with staff members who had been with them 18 and 16 years!
