Here’s a roundup of 10 summer offerings we need to eat before it’s time to welcome pumpkins, apples, and all other foods fall.
1.) Macarons from Bistro on the Boulevard
Pastry chef Mandy Krouse creates a rainbow of flavors and colors; enjoy them as part of a meal in the dining room, or take them to go for sitting on the bluff!
2.) Pink lemonade cake from bread+bar
Created by Bit of Swiss baker Tim Foley, this pink lemonade cake has cult status among dessert afficiandos in Michigan's Great Southwest. Try it at his Benton Harbor restaurant, bread+bar!
3.) Seasoned pork rinds at Silver Harbor Brewing
Like potato chips...but better. Try them in flavors like korean bbq, jalapeno cheddar, spicy sriracha, chili lime or sour cream & onion with a cold brew on Silver Harbor's deck!
4.) U-Pick peaches from Nye’s Apple Barn
A little bit of work makes these peaches even tastier! For a limited time, you can pick peaches in Nye's Apple Barn's orchard yourself. Interested in more U-Pick fruit? We wrote about it here!
5.) Waffle cone from Kilwin’s
Need we say more? While we wouldn't blame you for getting a cup, we highly suggest the waffle cones made in-house! Want to read more about Kilwin's? Check out their story here!

6.) Hopped cider from Gravity Winery
Gravity Winery has made cider for some time, but they have started dry-hopping it. Very refreshing on a summer day!
7.) House-smoked whitefish at Clifford’s Coffee Canal
Whitefish is a midwestern staple, and Clifford's is now smoking their own! The smoker is on the patio, one of the best waterfront decks in the area.
8.) Blueberry menu from Coach’s
In honor of Michigan's blueberry production, Coach's Bar and Grill in Stevensville offers a "blueberry menu". It's drinks, salads, bbq sauce...just a blueberry celebration!
9.) Nitro draft cold brew from the Sweet Bar by Mason Jar
The Mason Jar Cafe offers local, organic options for breakfast and lunch. Earlier this summer, they grabbed a second site in the Arts District and christened it the "Sweet Bar by Mason Jar". They offer gelato, desserts, and the only spot to get nitro cold brew in Benton Harbor!
10.) LakeHouse Mix fries with a sunset at LakeHouse Restaurant
With an unobstructed view of Lake Michigan, LakeHouse Restaurant is a prime sunset spot. Why not enjoy it with LakeHouse Mix fries (skinny sweet potato fries and steak fries so you don't have to choose!)? Want to read more about Lakehouse? We wrote their story here!
