Irish Sessions at The Livery occur the last Sunday of every month from 2-5pm.
Come to play, or just to listen, and enjoy fine "hand-forged" beers, great food, excellent company, and soul-warming impromptu musical selections!
A session (seisiún in Irish; seshoon in Manx Gaelic) refers to playing music and/or singing in the relaxed social setting of a local pub, in which the music-making is intermingled with the consumption of ale, stout, and beer and conversation. Performers sing and play traditional songs and tunes from the Irish, English, Scottish and Manx traditions, using instruments such as the fiddle, accordion, concertina, flute, tin whistle, uilleann pipes, tenor banjo, guitar, and bodhrán.
It is advised to only participate in the tunes and songs you know, but is an excellent way to learn traditional music, in the way it has been taught for centuries... by playing along with others.
Please, if you are attending for your first time, please tell the fine staff at The Livery that you heard about it on miIrish.com!
