St. Joseph’s very own super star in the making, Lauren Kunkel is a talented singer, pianist, songwriter, actress and flutist. A student of Paul Mow’s and Mike Koch’s, she has performed in many variety shows at St. Joseph High School and appeared in concerts at the Box Factory for the Arts, The Livery and as headline artist at the Hanson Theatre for LMC’s Living Room Series.
Lauren fell in love with the stage after participating in the ensemble of Shrek the Musical back in 2013. Musical theater fans will undoubtedly recognize Kunkel’s name from her portrayals of Little Red Riding Hood in Into the Woods and Ursula in The Little Mermaid, both at Southwestern Michigan College, Natalie in Next to Normal for Twin City Players (TCP), Molly in Peter and the Starcatcher (Lake Michigan College and TCP) and Wendla in LMC’s production of Spring Awakening.
Featuring pop favorites, jazz covers and original songs taken from her newly produced self-titled CD, Lauren hopes that this music will move and inspire people in the same way that it does her.
