On Friday, we’re ready to start celebrating!
Head over to the Benton Harbor Arts District on Friday evening for their Summer Solstice Art Hop! Businesses in the arts district open their doors for art exhibits, music, snacks and drinks. It’s free, and a great way to support local art.
If movies are more dad’s speed, it’s family movie night at the Benton Harbor-St. Joseph YMCA! They will be playing Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer, and serving pizza. It’s a kick off to summer, and a great chance to explore the fun to be had at the Y.
Alex's Duck, Duck, Run has a 1k kid's fun run!
On Saturday morning, it’s the 4th Annual Duck, Duck, Run 5k fundraiser for the Alex Mandarino Foundation. There’s a traditional 5k walk-run course, and also a 1k kid’s fun run! All proceeds will go towards childhood cancer research. It’s a great way to celebrate family, and ensure that others can, too.
After we work up an appetite, we’re heading to the Farmer’s Market on the bluff! Strawberries made their first appearance at the market on June 11th, and we’re looking forward to more. Looking for something to grill later? Jake’s Pork will be at the market, as will Middlebrook Farms (selling beef!).
For the afternoon, it’s the Lake Michigan Wine Shore Fest at Weko Beach in Bridgman. It’s a great way to explore Michigan wine, with a lake view! There’s some great music too, with acts like Slim Gypsy Baggage providing the soundtrack to a great afternoon.
Surrey bikes from Scooter Joe's in downtown St. Joseph.
On Sunday, we’re starting off the day with some active family fun! Scooter Joe's in downtown St. Joseph offers surrey bike rentals so the family can ride together. Cruise down Lake Boulevard or State Street; these bikes are awesome!
We're also taking a paddle on the Paw Paw River. Third Coast Paddling in Benton Harbor offers some great rental options right on Graham Avenue. Launch off their dock, and take a paddle up through Harbor Shores. Stand-up paddleboards are available, too, if Dad wants to try that!
We’re excited about Lemon Creek Winery’s 32nd annual Father’s Day Festival! It’s the longest-running wine festival in the area (awesome!). There’s great wine (of course), and a classic Corvette car show, hay rides, kid’s games, and music. The festival goes from 12:00pm-6:00pm.
If Dad’s a beer drinker, Cultivate Brewing is releasing a new beer-Play. This beer is described as-
An ale-lager hybrid, originating on the California coast. This copper-colored beer is brewed with classic West Coast hops to showcase citrusy, floral and earthy notes. Medium-bodied, accented with notes of toasted grain.
Cultivate Brewing is open from 12:00-8:00!
Cultivate Brewing has beer...and also giant jenga! They also have cornhole and other games, and there's a playground on site.
Have a great time celebrating Dad this weekend!
