Here in Southwest Michigan, we celebrate all seasons of breweries. Here’s our bucket list of brews you’ve got to try this summer!

See Saw (Belgian Wit)
from The Livery Microbrewery

Brewed by Simon Rusk, this Belgian Wit has a light and fluffy body, with layered complex yeast and herbal aromas, and a dry crisp honey lemon finish.  A traditional transcendent treat to beat the heat, it’s recommended food pairing is a white pizza (the Livery’s own “Mikey’s Bad Trip” is a great choice) or a bright summer salad (check out their House Salad!).

Find it at: The Livery Microbrewery 190 5th St, Benton Harbor, MI 49022

Grandma’s Favorite Recipe (Lactose Kettle Sour with Strawberry and Rhubarb)
from Silver Harbor Brewing

Christian Cook, co-owner and head brewer of the downtown St. Joseph brewpub, crafted this combination of sour and sweet, using 400lbs of Michigan strawberries and 80lbs of Michigan rhubarb. The brew was inspired by his own Grandma, who makes a mean strawberry rhubarb pie. The ideal food pairing would be -  you guessed it - Strawberry Rhubarb Pie!  In fact, any dessert would be a happy match for this summertime must-drink.

Reactor (West Coast IPA)
from Tapistry Brewing

This West-Coast IPA heralds from a West-Michigan brewery in Bridgman, MI. The dry-hopped IPA that begins with a bitter hop bite and finishes with a smooth citrusy hop flavor and aroma. Tapistry brewed this beer for the hop enthusiasts, including Cascade, Chinook, Centennial hops in the brew. A summer favorite, it’s ideal with grilled brats or burgers. Staff at Tapistry also discovered that pairing Reactor with your favorite Asian or Asian fusion cuisine is a great match (because when it’s 90 degrees, takeout is our favorite option too).

Bob’s Your Uncle (English Premium Bitter)
from Round Barn Brewing

Malkam Wyman crafted this brew, and summer makes the lightly sweet beer perfect with it’s classic pairing of fish & chips! It’s also recommended with mild cheddar or gouda, herb-roasted chicken, grilled beef and anything oatmeal for dessert. The beer offers a moderately high bitterness from the EKG hops, with some fruity/floral characters evenly balanced with the toasted biscuit malts, lightly sweet with hints of toffee.  A great beer with lower alcohol and good IBU’s, it’s perfect for summer toasts!

Sandbar Session (Tropical Blonde)
from North Pier Brewing

This dry-hopped sessionable ale is our only summer brew that a surf shop helped make (and that gives it mad beach cred). North Pier brewer Steve Distasio collaborated with Third Coast Surf Shop to create this blonde brew, with Vic Secret hops providing a rush of juicy pineapple aromas. A portion of proceeds will go to the Surfrider Foundation to help in their Great Lakes conservation efforts.

We know you’d like one now, but it’s not quite ready. This beer is released on July 7th (check the poster below)!
