Medic 1 operates 12 licensed Paramedic Ambulances equipped with the latest medical technology,unit that is mobile throughout the service area as well as several other support vehicles.

Medic 1 staffs its own dispatch center with Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) trained personnel and all of their ambulances are equipped with GPS locators.  This allows Medic 1 to provide not only fast but also the highest quality emergency medical care from the time a call is received and dispatched up until the ambulance arrives on scene.

Medic 1 also utilizes 8 wheel chair vans for pre-scheduled non-emergency transports.

For inter-hospital transfers that require specialized equipment and care, Medic 1 has a Critical Care Paramedic program where personnel have received additional specialized training for those types of situations.

Medic 1 Ambulance is one of only 20 ambulance services in the State of Michigan to attain national accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services which is considered the “Gold Standard” in ambulance service. (There are currently 102 CAAS-accredited agencies in 32 U.S. states and Nova Scotia, Canada)

Member municipalities include: Baroda Township, Benton Township, Berrien Township, City of Benton Harbor, City of Bridgman, City of Hartford, City of St. Joseph, City of Watervliet, Hartford Township, Lake Township, Lincoln Township, Oronoko Township, Royalton Township, Sodus Township, St. Joseph Township, Village of Berrien Springs, and Watervliet Township.

Contract areas include: City of New Buffalo, New Buffalo Township, Chikaming Township and Weesaw Township.
