G&M Variety is a store that dates back to 1939 when it was under the name of G.C. Murphy Co. It carries everything from food to hardware and anything in between. It has beach supplies such as toys, chairs, umbrellas and sun lotion. For the creative type it has arts and crafts supplies, scrapbooking materials, stationary, picture frames, and greeting cards. Also come in for household items such as basic groceries, cleaning supplies, cosmetics, wind chimes, hardware, bedding, decorative flags, and pet supplies. If you're here visiting don't miss the wide collection of souvenirs and t-shirts.
Originally G.C. Murphy Co. in 1939, the variety store changed to McCrory, and then to the current G&M Variety. Although the items within the store are constantly updated, the store itself still reflects the style. Those that remember the store from its beginnings are still reassured by its wood floors and are reminiscent about the candy counter which was located in the front. The store has managed to survive through the years thanks to the support of those in the community and the visitors throughout the summer.
