ST. JOSEPH, MI — The Box Factory for the Arts 1101, Broad St., will present a special performance on Saturday, October 3, from 7-9PM on the Box Factory Stage! Chicago folk music legend Mark Dvorak will be on stage alongside opening act The Thorntons.
Dubbed “Chicago’s Official Troubadour” on the famous Midnight Special national radio program, Dvorak’s career has taken him all over the U.S.A. with over 200 shows per year and multiple albums! Dvorak has been a long-time associate of the venerated Chicago School of Folk Music as an instructor and performer on folk guitar and banjo. A celebrated songwriter and storyteller, Dvorak’s career dates back to the early 1980s; Dvorak is known for his authenticity and modern personification of folk traditions inspired by Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, and Bob Dylan.
Matthew and Sherri of The Thorntons will be the opening act of the evening! The Thorntons will warm the stage with a program of artful acoustic music. They combine their talent on guitars and keys in a creative mix of traditional and progressive folk music. You may recognize Matthew from his previous performance at the Box Factory with his band, The Bucktown Ramblers!
The night’s audience can expect beautiful harmonies, excellent musicianship, and a few laughs from this night that will fill the Box Factory Stage with inspiring folk music!
