Double, double toil and trouble. We’re on the search for all things spooky in Michigan’s Great Southwest! It’s been a fun-packed fall with even more to come through the end of the month. With everything from trick-or-treating and spooky-themed classes to Halloween parties, activities for the whole family and more! Keep reading for festive events leading up to Halloween.

 

TRICK-OR-TREATING

OCTOBER 26

The City of St. Joseph hosts Truck or Treat from 4:00p-6:00p at the John & Dede Howard Ice Arena.

OCTOBER 31

Downtown St. Joseph and the Benton Harbor Arts District host Halloween Trick-Or-Treat, sponsored by Holt Bosse, from 4:30p-6:00p.

St. Joseph City-wide trick-or-treating is scheduled from 6:00p-7:30p.

Bridgman City-wide trick-or-treating is scheduled from 5:30p-7:00p.

Berrien County Historical Association Trick or Treating at the Museum from 5:30p-7:30p.


FRIGHTFUL FAMILY FUN

Throughout the month of October, find the witch hidden in thirteen participating locations in downtown St. Joseph! Pick up your Where’s the Witch passport for the St. Joe Today Welcome Center and start the search. 

SWMI businesses and restaurants will display their decorated pumpkins during Pumpkins on Parade, October 21-31! Visit participating locations to view their decorated pumpkins and vote online for your favorite. Voting will be available at stjoetoday.com/vote from 10:00a October 21 to 11:59p October 30. Winners will be announced on October 31! 

The St. Joseph/Maud Preston Palenske Memorial Library hosts a few Halloween themed programs this October! Join them for a Potions Class for Tweens on October 10 from 5:00p-6:00p; Things That Go Bump In The Night on October 23 from 6:00p-7:30p

Head to Eden Springs Park for Halloween miniature train rides on select dates throughout October! Catch these spooky train rides on October 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27 from 5:00p-8:00p. Cash only. These original House of David engines and passenger cars have been lovingly restored by the Eden Springs team of volunteers and train experts. 

Those brave enough to enter the Haunted Scarousel this October are in for a treat. The Silver Beach Carousel is decorated for Halloween! Through the end of October, kids under 16 wearing a full costume will receive one free ride (limited to one per child, per day). Each weekend hosts new spooky fun! Don’t miss the 3rd Annual Halloween Boo Bash on October 12 from 5:00p-8:00p. Attendees will enjoy Halloween magic by John Dudley, cookie decorating, spooky crafts and more! $15/person and includes two free rides on the Silver Beach Carousel and free admission to the Curious Kids’ Museum. 

Join the Berrien County Historical Association as they host two Stories Among the Stones events! Head to the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Three Oaks on October 10 at 5:00p or join them in the Coloma Cemetery at 2:00p! Attendees should wear comfortable shoes and prepare for inclement weather. $5/person.

The Lake Michigan College Mendel Center hosts the Something Wicket This Way Comes Choir Concert on October 24 at 7:00p. This concert features the LMC Visual & Performing Arts Department and the Michigan Vocal Music Association District 6 Middle School Honors Invitational as they perform a variety of classical, contemporary, fook and pop adaptions. 

Head to Caretel Inns St. Joseph for their Fall Festival on October 25 from 4:00p-6:00p! Join in for a night of family fun - pumpkin painting, hayrides, live animals, fall games, local cider & donuts, a costume contest and more! 

Enjoy a Halloween Event hosted by Slacker’s Family Fun Center on October 25 from 6:00p-10:00p. Attendees will enjoy Unlimited Arcade (no tickets or prizes), Unlimited Bounce House, Unlimited Laser Tag, Game Rooms, Candy and more! Head back on October 26 for Haunted Lase Tag from 7:00p-11:00p! Cost $20/Non-Members, $15/Members.

Something wicked is coming at Sarett Nature Center! On October 26, families are invited to Sarett’s Spooky Halloween from 3:00p-8:00p. Attendees will enjoy a stroll through the trails, spooky crafts, game stations and more. If you’re looking for a fright, visit the scary trail! Tickets are $6/person (ages 2 and older) and book fast, so reserve your spot today.

River Saint Joe Brewery hosts their 5th Annual Dog Halloween Costume Contest on October 27 from 2:00p-3:00p. $5 donation to enter the costume contest! All proceeds go towards Homeward Bound’s efforts to home and help local pets in need of love. 

The OutCenter hosts a Downtown Halloween Costume Party at The Livery on October 31 from 6:00p-8:00p. Fun for the whole family! 


WIZARDING WORKSHOPS

Join O & Co. for crafts this spooky season! Candle Magic Class on October 8 from 6:00p-8:00p; Skull Macrame Wall Hanger on October 13 from 12:00p-2:00p; “Peek-a-Boo” Halloween Cookie Class on October 17 from 6:00p-8:00p; Halloween Terrarium Workshop on October 19 from 11:00a-1:30p; Candle Magic Class on October 20 from 1:00p-3:00p; 3D Felt Pumpkin Class on October 27 from 12:00p-2:00p. Space is limited! 

Decorate pumpkins at Filkins Vineyards during their Pumpkin Paint & Sip held on Saturdays in October from 11:30a-1:30p. Pick out your favorite pumpkin, grab a paintbrush and start creating! Ages 8 and up are welcome. 

Lazy Ballerina Winery hosts a Halloween Wine Glass Painting Class on October 22 from 5:30p-7:00p. Reservations required - includes supplies to paint two wine glasses and one glass of wine. Space is limited, reserve your spot today!

The Fab Lab at Lake Michigan College hosts Halloween Workshops on October 22 and October 24 from 3:00p-7:30p. Attendees will get to choose from a variety of Halloween crafts! Visit lakemichigancollege.edu for more information. 

Create spooky season crafts with Fernwood Botanical Gardens at their Creature Craft Party on October 27 from 12:00p-3:00p. Attendees will get to choose a craft inspired by seasonal creatures - bats, spiders, toads and more + enjoy hot cider, popcorn and sweets! Check out the gardens, trails and the pumpkin house. Costumes encouraged! 

 

ENCHANTING EVENTS

Join the Morton House Museum for a Halloween Event and Chili Dinner on October 12 from 6:00p-8:00p! Attendees will enjoy a variety of chili and spooky talk from the crew at the Morton House Museum.

Shop & sip the 4th Annual Halloween Makers Market at Peat’s Cider Social on October 19 from 1:00p-7:00p! Head back on October 30 from 4:00p-9:00p for Boowling Bingo. 

Forever Clean Soap Works hosts Tarot Card Readings with Suzanne from Velvet Skin Spa on October 19 from 10:00a-3:30p! Readings will be $30 - cash only; no appointment necessary. 

Join Fernwood Botanical Gardens for Herbal Fortune Telling with the Michiana Herb Society on October 19, 26, 27 from 12:00p-3:00p.

Roast a Ghost at The Livery on October 20 at 6:00p! This event is part comedy show, part costume contest. Attendees are encouraged to dress up and let a panel of comedians judge their costumes for a chance to win a prize! $10 honor cover at the door. 

Catch the latest The GhostLight Theatre production, The Rocky Horror Show - The Musical. Tickets are going fast so reserve your spot today! Show dates include Thursdays-Sundays, October 17-27 + October 31. 

Watermark Brewing hosts a Halloween Party at the Solarium on October 25 at 7:00p! $10/person (must be 21+). This event features DJ Danger Cave and a costume contest! 

Dance the night away during Journeyman Distillery’s Halloween Dance Party on October 26 from 8:00p! Tickets are $18/person and includes a welcome cocktail. Attendees are sure to enjoy Halloween-inspired cocktails and DJ entertainment. Costumes are optional but strongly encouraged!

Head to Round Barn Winery & Estate for their Hallowine event on October 26-27. Attendees will enjoy the last Jammin’ in the Viewyard weekend with a Halloween twist. 

Terror at Tabor returns to Tabor Hill on October 26 from 6:00p-10:00p. This year’s theme is Haunted Hollywood and attendees will enjoy a night of glitz and glmour as they dance the night away! This event is $10/person in advance or $15/person at the door. Attendees will enjoy music with The BBQs DJ, an onsite food truck, a photo booth and a cash bar! 21+ event.
